The Wakatū Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2019 was held at the Trafalgar Centre in Nelson.
It is an opportunity for Wakatū shareholders and their whānau to hear from the Board of Directors and the management team about what has happened in the last year, as well as hearing about plans for the future. The board and management team updated whānau on a positive year, with ongoing work on our Whenua Ora and Tangata Ora programmes, the launch of a new business, AuOra, and strong financial performances from Whenua and Kono.
As in previous years, a highlight for many at the AGM was hearing from the recipients of the Wakatū tertiary scholarships. This year Maumahara Lewis Kātene Horsfall, Katarina Ashante Haverkamp, Riria Vella, Lydia Te Ra Joseph and Marcia Hawea thanked Wakatū Owners and board for their support, outlined their areas of study, and gave an insight into their hopes for the future.
The AGM weekend included the popular Owners’ Bus Tour. Led by Bentham Ōhia and Ngawaina Joy Shorrock this year’s tour group visited the Annies fruit bar factory, the Kono seafood processing factory and the Tohu Winery.
It’s a great opportunity for our Owners to see the mahi that goes on behind the scenes, learn more about their businesses and the different activities that are underway.
We are looking forward to catching up with Wakatū whānau again in Wellington for the Special General Meeting (SGM) being held at Te Papa on Saturday 28 March 2020.
